I'm struggling with this. Firstly I can't read German. I don't  know what it is like elsewhere but in England Banks have become quite virtual. My branch is in another city and calling them is difficult. You could simply send me a cheque if it makes things easier. So long as the cheque is made out to ST Media as it was my business account that funded the trip

SWIFT Standards, a division of The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Society_for_Worldwide_Interbank_Financial_Telecommunication> (SWIFT), handles the registration of these codes. For this reason, Bank Identifier Codes (BICs) are often called SWIFT addresses or codes.

AND

All banks in Europe<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europe> (except for the Commonwealth of Independent States<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Commonwealth_of_Independent_States>) provide an IBAN identifier for their accounts as well as nationally recognised identifiers - this being mandatory within the European Economic Area<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Economic_Area>.

SO they should only actually need an IBAN for payments.

I am very sorry that we could not do the Bank transfer today.

We need the IBAN and BIC Code - of your Account  and Bank  - to be able to
do that !!!

NOT your national Bank number or account number.

We CANNOT calculate your IBAN or BIC number (see bank advice in German
below) ourselves from the national number and account number.

please everybody who told us to send the money by Bank provide this data
as soon as possible  (please ask your Bank!) , so we can do the transfer
hopefully by tomorrow.

IBAN (International Bank Account Number)

Die Internationale Bankkontonummer ist die internationale Darstellung der
Kontonummer und der Bank. Sie hat vor allem Bedeutung bei der
EU-Standardüberweisung.

Die IBAN besteht aus dem ISO-Länderkennzeichnen (z.B. "AT" für
Österreich), einer zweistelligen Prüfziffer, sowie Bankinformationen und
der Kontonummer. In Österreich ist sie 20 Stellen lang. Die IBAN wird nur
im Zahlungsverkehr mit dem Ausland verwendet, nicht im Inland.

Als besonderes Service bieten wir unseren Kunden die IBAN-Berechnung per
Internet für eigene Kontonummern und Kreditkontonummern an (siehe unten:
IBAN-Rechner).

Errechnen Sie sich die IBAN Ihres Geschäftspartners auf keinen Fall
selbst. Die Gefahr, dass Sie eine falsche IBAN produzieren ist hoch.
Überweisungen mit falscher IBAN führen zu aufwendigen Rückleitungen. Eine
fremde IBAN können Sie auf der Homepage der STUZZA GmbH. auf ihre
Richtigkeit prüfen (siehe unten: IBAN Prüfung der STUZZA GmbH) .

BIC (Bank Identifier Code)

auch S.W.I.F.T.-Adresse genannt, ist die internationale Identifikation der
Bank. Der BIC stellt die Bankleitzahl für Auslandsüberweisungen dar.
